Zotefoams joins partner Südpack for FACHPACK 2024 to champion sustainable materials and circular packaging innovation
Zotefoams, a global leader in advanced cellular materials, is teaming up with Südpack, an innovator in sustainable films, for FACHPACK 2024.
Together, the companies will demonstrate their leadership in sustainable innovation, with Zotefoams showcasing its award-winning ReZorce® Circular Packaging. The trade show will also include the presentation of the prestigious German Packaging Prize, where ReZorce will receive its award for Sustainability (Overall Concept).
ReZorce is a pioneering mono-material barrier packaging range designed for the circular economy. Currently, Zotefoams is collaborating with Refresco to develop and trial ReZorce beverage cartons as a sustainable alternative to traditional composite liquid packaging boards, which are not easily recyclable and are often downcycled or incinerated.
An independent Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) commissioned by Zotefoams revealed that ReZorce® outperforms traditional liquid packaging board (LPB) in key areas, including a 53% reduction in energy use, 51% lower water usage, and a 55% decrease in global warming potential when recycled.
In May this year, Zotefoams and Südpack announced an agreement whereby Südpack will provide extruded base material, with a capacity of up to 100 million cartons per year following the commercial launch of ReZorce. At Fachpack, the companies’ shared vision of minimising environmental impacts through sustainable innovation will once again be in the spotlight as Südpack demonstrates how ReZorce fits with its recently announced Sustainability Strategy 2030. This outlines concrete steps across all five business phases – supply chain, production, logistics, product use, and end-of-life – aimed at reducing harmful emissions in line with the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi).
